It's in Biarritz, in front of the ocean, in an environment conducive to inspiration, that the brand ( L'EGOÏSTE ) was born. It is this state of mind that we want to transcribe as DNA through our brand and its products.
It is the ideal garment to wear during the summer season. It's light, comfortable, and can be as chic as it is casual because contrary to what one might think, it's not only worn with flip-flops. It is suitable for many occasions depending on how it is combined.
The history of shorts stems from that of Bermuda shorts and it is a garment that comes to us, once again, from the military domain.
In the 19th century, the British Navy soldiers who were in Bermuda had difficulty supporting the relatively high temperatures of this island. They shortened their pants and wore them with knee-high socks, a tie and a blazer to keep a solemn look. At the time, its length reached knee height or even lower. And it is called Bermuda, in connection with the name of the island.
Then, in the following years, Bermuda shorts will be gradually shortened until they reach the middle of the thigh, it will be called shorts or at the time; the "short panties".
It will also be associated with the aristocracy before being adopted by athletes who appreciate it for its practicality, comfort and ease. And it is also thanks to the sports field that it will be democratized.
The first paid holidays in France, in 1936, also marked the adoption of shorts by the working classes.
It can be plain or patterned and available in a multitude of colors and cuts. It is suitable both as an "everyday outfit" but also for more chic occasions. It's up to you to pair it with a suitable outfit. With a T-shirt for example for a casual look or a shirt or polo shirt for a more casual event.
It exists with a chino cut or a more fluid cut of the darted trousers type.
