The Indochina Field Jacket

- Categories : All

Do you know its story?

It was worn by the French Army during the Indochina War. It was therefore designed and adapted to respond to extreme climatic conditions.

It was made from an HBT chevron fabric. The inclination of the pockets gave practicality to this garment because soldiers could easily access them. What makes it easily recognizable compared to other military jackets of the time is that it had visible buttons.

Our house has redesigned and edited this iconic jacket just like the three other famous field jackets that we presented to you, telling you the story of each of them. As a reminder, here are these models as historic as they are emblematic.

Our interpretation of the French military jacket

We were inspired by the replica of a French Army jacket from the Indochina War and we rethought and redesigned it to make it more contemporary and more suited to our daily lives. Unlike the model of the past which was straight and wider, the cut of this one is between that of a blazer and an overshirt, so it is fitted but remains no less comfortable !

It has a large collar, black corozo buttons, buttonholes on the sleeves, four blown pockets with flaps, two of which are on the chest and two larger on the stomach, which makes it extremely practical.

It was made using thick cotton with a herringbone weave, identical to the original, in our own workshop in Lisbon.

It's a very pleasant jacket to wear which will be perfect for the off-season and the coming fall. It can also go well with a classic or more offbeat style.

Here, Jules wears it with a tie, with a shirt and a vest, but you can just as easily combine it with a t-shirt or a simple shirt.

For a style between military look and French fashion !
